The Role

We're seeking a Research Scientist to join our team and contribute to our research in AI governance and policy. As a Research Scientist, you'll work collaboratively with our Policy, Safety, and Responsibility teams to develop solutions to fundamental questions in machine learning, computational neuroscience, AI, and AI policy and governance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Propose, contribute to, and lead research projects related to AI governance and policy.
  • Build and contribute to internal and external collaborations through working groups, presentations, and memo writing.
  • Monitor trends and developments in the AI landscape and implications for AI safety, strategy, and governance.
  • Produce insightful, engaging, and actionable research papers, memos, and risk analysis for internal decision-makers and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively build relationships across the company to inform your research and find opportunities for how your work can support other teams.
About You

We're looking for a candidate with a PhD or MA + equivalent research or practical experience in a relevant field. You should have professional or research experience in AI governance or policy, as well as knowledge of the technical AI landscape, policy-making, and history of major government decisions relevant to AI. Strong professional communication, writing, and presentation skills are essential.

We're interested in recruiting a wide range of expertise, including forecasting powerful AI, technical governance, geopolitics, and global governance. If you have experience incorporating the perspectives and interests of diverse communities, groups, and partners, that's a plus.
