About the Role

As a Harassment Support Worker, you will provide a confidential listening and advice service to university staff members who have experienced harassment, bullying, or other forms of mistreatment. You will work closely with the Inclusion team and the Chair of the Harassment Report and Support Service to ensure that staff receive the support they need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and support staff members who have experienced harassment or bullying
  • Identify and provide access to relevant support services and resources
  • Keep accurate records of meetings and interactions with staff members
  • Participate in regular network meetings and training sessions
  • Raise awareness of the Harassment Report and Support Service among university staff
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Experience working with diverse groups and individuals
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Completed the online How We Work at Essex essential training, specifically the EDI section
What We Offer

As a Harassment Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive and inclusive environment. You will also be part of a network of dedicated professionals who are committed to creating a positive and respectful university community.

This is a voluntary role, and you will be required to commit to a one-week rota system for monitoring the Harassment Advisor Network inbox and the Report and Support dashboard. You will also be expected to attend regular network meetings and training sessions.
