Financial Controller Job Description

Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a global software technology provider to recruit a Financial Controller for their global head office in Bury St Edmunds. The company is a PE-backed SME experiencing growth and scaling up, with a solid business plan in place.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all day-to-day finance and accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the company's ledgers.
  • Manage, coach, and mentor the finance team to drive business growth and improve financial performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce the reporting cycle, improve accuracy, and ensure reporting evolves to reflect the changing needs of the business.
  • Oversee all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly results, and provide accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy making and financial decision making.
  • Prepare and publish accurate and timely monthly financial statements and Board pack preparation, and coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
  • Act as a Business Partner to departmental budget holders to improve reporting, promote financial awareness, budgetary responsibility, and provide decision-making support.
  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting obligations in the UK, US, and other territories as required, and liaise with external Auditors to ensure timely and efficient preparation and reporting of statutory accounts.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other Executive team members to establish more effective and scalable systems, processes, and controls, and ensure the systems and reporting evolve to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Assist the CFO in setting the strategy and direction of the finance function.
Requirements & Skills
  • Fully qualified: ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience as a Financial Controller, ideally in a business scaling up.
  • Sound IT skills, including proficiency in relevant accounting packages and Microsoft Office, with a bonus for Google Sheets proficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge and understanding of budgeting and financial forecasting, and a natural curiosity and passion for numbers.
  • Ambitious for career development, customer-focused, and commercially orientated.
Remuneration
  • Salary: £68,000 - £80,000 per annum.
