Position Overview

Title: Regional Engineering Supervisor

Contract Duration: 12 Months (potential for extension)

IR35 Status: Inside

Required Security Clearance: SC

The Regional Engineering Supervisor will lead multidisciplinary teams, overseeing the estimation, scheduling, forecasting, and production of designated design outputs.

Management of the Design and Safety Assessment teams in the creation of deliverables is essential.

Development of safety documentation, including participation in Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), support for safety evaluations, review of Engineering Specifications, and production of substantiation documents is required.

Identification of additional resource needs is crucial to ensure all outputs are generated and verified in line with project timelines.

Collaboration with other Project Discipline leaders within the projects is necessary.

Engagement with site clients and stakeholders is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

The Regional Engineering Supervisor will be expected to:

  • Direct the development of Engineering and Technical planning for project initiation.
  • Oversee the execution of Engineering and Technical plans to:
  • Define and confirm project specifications with the client.
  • Advance Technological Readiness Level (TRL) to the required stage.
  • Select the Single Preferred Option for fulfilling client requirements.
  • Plan for the subsequent delivery of the project.

The role involves leading and guiding a multidisciplinary engineering team to:

1. Assess the feasibility of proposed approaches.

2. Develop an initial requirement specification.

3. Determine TRL levels and associated development strategies to provide a viable solution.

4. Formulate a plan for the appraisal and selection phase of the project, ensuring delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) field.
  • Minimum requirement: HNC.
  • Preferred qualification: M Eng.
  • Membership in a relevant Engineering or Scientific Institution.
  • Minimum: Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Preferred: Chartered Engineer status.
  • Proven engineering experience demonstrating a successful track record, including recent roles influencing professional engineers and mentoring technical staff.
  • Extensive experience in an engineering design environment where engineering knowledge is critical.
  • Recent experience in a regulated and quality-assured setting (nuclear experience preferred but not mandatory) where professional engineering judgment is essential.
  • Understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and standards within the nuclear sector (equivalent experience from other industries will be considered).
