Role Overview

As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Senior Manager for In-Life Commercial. Your primary focus will be on the effective management of commercial agreements throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive management of all commercial agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead the Commercial Audit function, identifying and recovering any discrepancies in spending through thorough audits.
  • Manage the Non-Standards function, evaluating expenditures not covered by contractual terms and benchmarking against industry standards.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for our Departure From Estimate (DFE) governance processes, addressing partner escalations and ensuring resolutions are achieved.
  • Facilitate the resolution of estimate blocks to enable timely processing of payments.
  • Provide in-life commercial governance, enhancing the understanding of commercial practices among partners and internal stakeholders to mitigate financial risks.

Relationship Management

Foster strong relationships with various stakeholders, including:

  • Partner Managers for collaborative resolution of in-life challenges.
  • Commercial teams to address contractual matters and ensure cost recovery.
  • Procurement and In-Life Change Teams to implement strategic changes.
  • Internal teams to triage and resolve in-life issues effectively.

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with MRICS qualification.
  • Experience in a civil engineering context, preferably within the utilities sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry and its regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
  • Strong financial acumen and practical experience with civil engineering technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present confidently.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders efficiently.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as necessary.
