Key Responsibilities
  1. Curriculum Development and Leadership

Support the Head of Curriculum in the development and implementation of curriculum plans, ensuring alignment with College key performance indicators.

Line Management and Performance Monitoring

Line manage direct reports, including programme leaders, lecturers, instructors, and technicians, to ensure high levels of performance and effective communication across the Section.

Quality Enhancement and Self-Assessment

Liaise with the central Quality unit to contribute to quality enhancement and self-assessment processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality provision.

Performance Monitoring and Improvement

Monitor provision against key performance indicators and benchmarks, implementing improvement plans where necessary to drive learner success and progression.

Curriculum Area Management

Provide support and supervision for specific curriculum areas, ensuring high-quality provision and the maximisation of both physical and human resources.

Human Resources and Recruitment

Contribute to HR processes, including recruitment and performance management of staff, to ensure the effective management of the curriculum team.

Deputy Head of Curriculum

Deputise for the Head of Curriculum as appropriate, ensuring continuity and effective leadership of the curriculum team.

Additional Responsibilities
  1. Digital Apprenticeships and Higher Education Programmes

Manage Digital Apprenticeships (predominantly degree apprenticeships) and Higher Education Programmes to ensure high levels of performance and take responsibility for the apprenticeship journey from sign-up to completion.

Employer Engagement and Partnerships

Maintain regular contact with employers of apprentices, removing obstacles, tackling difficulties, and providing intervention where issues may arise.

Integrated Systems and Compliance

Support the implementing and embedding of integrated systems to support business processes for apprenticeship delivery, ensuring full compliance across Newcastle College.

Stakeholder Engagement and Employer Satisfaction

Build a wide stakeholder base of employers throughout the North East and ensure that employer satisfaction with NCG apprenticeships is high through excellent service.

Standard Responsibilities
  1. Staff Review and Performance Management

Participate in any staff review/performance management processes, identifying and meeting training needs for self and others.
