This role will play a critical part in supporting clinical and non-clinical users throughout the trust in their use of all IDT services, and will also oversee the following functions within IDT: Systems, networks, telephony, security, and BAU support team (Infrastructure Engineers, supporting storage, data centres, remote technology, etc.).

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of complex SLAs, and will have a proven track record of managing at a senior level, IDT infrastructure technical resources and operations in large scale IT environments. They will also have experience of managing and prioritising large budgets, and of creating new teams and motivating and inspiring staff to work together to achieve a common objective.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Digital Infrastructure and Technical Support Team, and will work closely with other senior leaders across the trust to ensure that the team's objectives are aligned with the overall goals of the organisation.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of technical expertise, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Digital Infrastructure and Technical Support Team
  • Overseeing the management of IDT infrastructure technical resources and operations
  • Managing and prioritising large budgets
  • Creating new teams and motivating and inspiring staff to work together to achieve a common objective
  • Working closely with other senior leaders across the trust to ensure that the team's objectives are aligned with the overall goals of the organisation

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educated to Masters / Degree level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Prince Foundation

Desirable

  • ITIL Qualified

Skills

  • Leadership, vision, strategic thinking and planning with highly developed political skills
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly
  • Negotiations at senior level
  • Understanding of project management tools and techniques
  • Ability to provide informative reporting on finances and impact to management

Experience

  • Significant experience of complex SLAs
  • 5+ years equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in IT operations preferably in NHS
  • Extensive experience in managing at a senior level, IDT infrastructure technical resources and operations in large scale IT environments
  • Experience of managing and prioritising large budget/s
  • Experience of creating new team/s and motivating and inspiring staff to work together to achieve a common objective
