Registered Nurse for Cardiology Unit

Carlisle, Cumbria, United Kingdom North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

Position: Band 5 Nurse - Willow C/CCU

We are seeking both experienced and newly qualified nurses to become part of our welcoming team. Our focus is on delivering exceptional care to cardiac patients in both our coronary care unit and general cardiology step-down areas. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for those passionate about cardiac care, allowing you to gain valuable experience in managing patients with acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmias, and various other cardiac conditions. Our supportive team encourages rotation among the three cardiology areas: CCU, Willow C, and The Heart Centre.

As a member of our team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to cardiology and medical patients, supervise healthcare assistants, junior staff, and students on the ward. Effective communication with patients' relatives and the multidisciplinary team is essential. You will assist the senior nursing team in caring for level 2 patients within the coronary care unit and analyze cardiac rhythms using telemetry systems and bedside monitors.

The successful candidates will transition to different departments upon completion of the maternity cover.

Main Responsibilities

Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for patients across all acute cardiac care areas, providing the required nursing care independently. Contribute to the advancement and assessment of nursing practices in acute cardiac settings.

This is an excellent opportunity for registered nurses to join our enthusiastic team, working between the coronary care unit and the step-down unit of Willow C, caring for a variety of cardiology conditions. You will acquire new skills in telemetry monitoring and patient care in a high-dependency environment, following the patient journey through to discharge. You will receive strong support from the senior nursing team, with a band 6 nurse present on every shift.
