Job Title: Apprentice Construction Site Engineer

RTL Group Ltd is seeking a skilled and motivated Apprentice Construction Site Engineer to join their team in Coventry. As a key member of the site team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of work completed on site and contributing to the successful delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and monitor the quality of work completed on site
  • Collaborate with the site team to identify and implement continuous improvements
  • Assist in managing systems to track progress against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity
  • Record and test workmanship and materials, including drainage, concrete, piling, and brickwork
  • Provide engineering support to overcome technical problems and answer technical queries
  • Set out works within allowable tolerances
  • Regularly check setting out points and benchmarks, and ensure that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are calibrated and recorded
  • Ensure the workforce understands setting out information and its relevance to the work being carried out
  • Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control to ensure accurate construction
  • Take a proactive approach to managing Health and Safety on site
  • Coordinate and supervise temporary works as required
  • Implement a regime of test and inspection plans for all works on site
Requirements:
  • Educated to degree standard in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Technical knowledge of construction and best practices
  • An appropriate and valid CSCS/CSR card
  • Full Driving License
  • First Aid at Work
  • Sound knowledge of engineering, latest building regulations, legislation, and Health and Safety
  • Familiarity with RAMS and 3-day look-up
  • Previous experience in one or more of Roads & Bridges, Water, Marine, Renewables, or Horizon
  • Working knowledge of the complete Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to engage with all stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail and meticulous planning and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Self-motivated
