Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer - Propulsion Systems

Key Responsibilities: Oversee the engineering design of systems and components for advanced naval submarines Conduct functional design tasks, including modeling and analytical assessments Generate comprehensive design documentation, including Verification & Validation records and safety justifications Assist in the specification, qualification, and procurement of components, collaborating closely with suppliers Perform peer reviews and checks to uphold engineering governance standards Required Skills and Experience: Proficient in the design and specification of rotating machinery - including Gears, Shafts, Bearings, and Couplings (experience with electrical machines is a plus) - OR Expertise in fluid systems design covering Compressible and/or Incompressible Fluid Systems, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Pumps, and Control Valves Experience in pressure vessel design, including pressure piping and vessels adhering to recognized international standards (such as ASME BPVC, PD 5500, EN 13445) Understanding of the engineering lifecycle from concept through to disposal, including detailed design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning Chartered engineer status or actively pursuing professional accreditation Benefits:

About the Propulsion Team:

As a member of the Propulsion Team, you will contribute to the design and development of propulsion systems across all major equipment, while also specifying and supporting the procurement of propulsion components. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in a new Submarine program, allowing you to take ownership and influence design decisions throughout this exciting project. Experience in sectors such as Maritime, Defence, Aerospace, Oil and Gas, or Nuclear is advantageous. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates.
