Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our talented engineering team at Innovate. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and constructing innovative systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead for a small, multidisciplinary project design team, producing high-quality design solutions that adhere to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Design Development: Oversee the development of designs in SolidWorks software utilizing 3D CAD, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Analysis and Testing: Use conventional analysis and computer simulation to lead and collaborate with the team in doing classical engineering analysis on designs, including stress, fatigue, and vibration. Conduct laboratory testing to confirm that design outputs match design inputs.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Take charge of organizing and creating engineering reports to support failure analysis, new product designs, and any other official paperwork needed to meet client requirements.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work together with larger engineering groups to include drive, control, and electrical systems into equipment designs. Offer assistance to the field engineering, test, and production engineering teams. Assist project management and sales teams in providing design activity time estimates and monitoring advancement.
  • Design Support: Help and support the sales team in creating quotes, proposals, and other sales collateral.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Recognize how to apply procedures for casting, fabrication, moulding, and machining.
  • CAD Proficiency: Possess familiarity with a 3D CAD program, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Workload Management: Capacity to oversee workload and design output while leading a project design team's technical efforts.
  • Industry Experience: Experience of working in the Defence or related sectors, particularly in R&D and manufacturing, such as scientific equipment manufacturers, special purpose machine builders, or high-end customization companies.
