Key Responsibilities:- Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit financial statements (IFRS) and partner with external consultants to prepare and submit high-value R&D tax claims.
- Management Accounts: Prepare monthly management accounts and board reporting.
- Financial Support: Provide day-to-day support to operations and commercial teams.
- Team Leadership: Oversee two direct reports and take charge of their development.
- Process Improvement: Drive finance process and control enhancements.
- Cashflow Management: Manage cashflow effectively.
- Deputy CFO: Deputise for the CFO as required.
- KPI Dashboard: Develop and publish a KPI dashboard.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ad Hoc Reports: Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis.
- Payroll and Supplier Payments: Ensure timely processing of payroll, supplier payments, and day-to-day accounting.
- Team Player: Comfortable working as part of a small but growing team, building a first-class finance function.
- Flexible and Proactive: Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach.
- Statutory Compliance: Confident liaising with auditors and owning statutory compliance.
- Process Development: Experience in supporting the development of processes and systems that enable business growth in a structured manner.
- Autonomy: Confident in taking ownership of the role, working autonomously.
- Commercial Aptitude: Strong commercial aptitude.
- Qualified Accountant: Qualified accountant with a strong understanding of IFRS accounting and standards.
- Agile and Ambitious: Agile and ambitious, with a desire to grow with a fast-moving start-up.
- Previous Experience: Exposure to a previous VC-backed business would be an advantage.
- Project Accounting: Experience in project accounting and grant claims would be an advantage.
- Organisational and Analytical Skills: Strong organisational and analytical skills.
- Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented.
