Accounts Payable Supervisor

**Job Summary**
Reporting to the Director – Financing Reporting, the Accounts Payable Supervisor plans, organizes and manages the day-to-day operations and activities of a centralized Accounts Payable department. The incumbent assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining high standards of service in the management of fiscal, human and material resources for the department.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement effective financial management strategies to ensure efficient and accurate processing of accounts payable transactions.
- Supervise and manage a team of accounts payable staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of accounts payable processes with other financial functions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement, making recommendations for process enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities to staff.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in accounts payable management.
**Requirements**
- Degree/Diploma in Business Administration from an accredited business program, majoring in Accounting.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, with particular competency in the creation and modification of excel spreadsheets.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software an asset.
- Two (2) years recent relevant and supervisory experience.
- Previous Accounts Payable experience an asset.
- Previous project work experiences an asset.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills both in oral and written format.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and direct activities.
- Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple priorities and competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to promote positive change.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
- Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
- Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
- Good work and attendance record.
**Conditions of Employment**
- Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
