About Your New Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solicitor or Associate to join our Specialty team in London. The successful candidate will specialize in professional indemnity and support our team in a broad range of substantial and challenging work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist partners and senior lawyers with their caseloads, providing proactive management and supervision.
  • Prepare detailed and technical reports, correspondence, and court documents, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Advise clients on issues of liability and coverage, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Liaise with insurers, insured clients, experts, witnesses, counsel, and other parties, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with client service level agreements, relevant policies, and procedures, maintaining high standards of professionalism.
  • Support business development initiatives, contributing to the growth and success of our team.
  • Complete management information, providing valuable insights and analysis.
  • Develop and delegate tasks to trainees and paralegals, fostering a culture of learning and development.
  • Assist with other work allocated by the Team Manager, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans' values, upholding our commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.

About You

  • 3-6 years' PQE or equivalent experience in insurance litigation and policy coverage analysis.
  • Experience of professional risk claims and commercial insurance policies is essential.
  • Understanding of the insurance market, reporting arrangements, reserving philosophies, and the relationship between brokers, underwriters/insurers, and lawyers is crucial.
  • Previous secondment to or employment with an insurance organization would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Strong legal and analytical skills, with a commercial, solution-driven, and client-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
