About the Role

Farrer & Co is seeking a highly skilled Database and Data Architect to join our IT team. As a key member of our Data & BI team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing our data infrastructure to support business growth and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop SQL Server databases to ensure reliable access and excellent performance.
  • Ensure the integrity, security, backup, disaster recovery, and availability of data systems.
  • Develop and maintain existing Business Intelligence solutions using SSRS, Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Work with business areas to devise, develop, and deploy data products as needed.
  • Oversee data integration across firm-wide systems to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Document the data architecture and environment to maintain a current and accurate view of the larger data picture.
  • Act as technical lead or resource on project work as required.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  • Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels and perform database security audits.
  • Leverage Microsoft cloud services (Azure, Power Platform, Fabric) for the delivery of data solutions.
Requirements
  • Strong SQL Server experience, including writing T-SQL and performance tuning.
  • Experience building Business Intelligence solutions and dashboards using reporting and visualization tools.
  • ETL experience, including Microsoft SSIS, Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Azure DevOps.
  • Previous legal experience, especially knowledge of Aderant PMS and Intapp products.
  • Ability to build relationships and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach, with a self-starter mentality.
  • Innovative and flexible, with a strong customer service ethic.
  • Confident manner and personal impact to command respect from peers and colleagues.
  • Energy and enthusiasm to manage new initiatives.
Working Arrangements

Farrer & Co operates an agile working framework, with a minimum expectation of 40% of working hours spent in the office. However, we are flexible and willing to accommodate system maintenance and support requirements, including evening and weekend working.
