About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Database Architect to support and enhance our critical database infrastructure. This role involves working on both project-based tasks and BAU support, ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of our database systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, setup, and test new databases and data handling systems.
  • Update and amend existing databases to meet evolving business needs.
  • Monitor database efficiency and maintain data security and integrity.
  • Develop complex query definitions to facilitate data extraction for various business functions.
  • Support IT infrastructure, including basic administration of Unix, VMWare, Active Directory, and DNS environments.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database software/web applications.
  • Experience in database configuration, builds, and administration.
  • Experience with stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Hands-on experience with installing IT hardware and software.
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train others.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Oracle 19C.
  • Proficiency with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
  • Basic Unix and Linux knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of VMWare, Active Directory, and DNS.
  • Knowledge of Citrix, AIX, and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git for database code and script management.
  • Understanding of database performance tuning and optimisation techniques.
  • Experience in creating and managing database backups and recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for database management tasks.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technology trends and data protection regulations.
