Job Overview

This position is a fixed-term role for a duration of 12 months, intended to cover maternity leave. Candidates interested in this opportunity should ensure they have the consent of their current supervisor before proceeding with their application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage daily tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Perform routine typing and audio transcription of clinical documents.
  • Oversee the scheduling of appointments for Consultants.
  • Prioritize outcomes, coordinate clinical activities, and manage patient admissions.
  • Communicate with patients, General Practitioners, and other Health Boards/Trusts to facilitate ongoing treatment and care.

Role Responsibilities

This role involves adhering to established systems, procedures, policies, and processes to ensure that typing tasks are executed efficiently and accurately. Timely communication is crucial to provide patients with a seamless experience throughout their care journey.

Additionally, the role includes supporting the secretarial staff within the Urology Department by offering direct assistance to the medical teams led by the Consultants.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • RSA III in word processing or equivalent/NVQ; a strong educational background is required.
  • Familiarity with the Health Board's WPAS system and tracker/Radis.
  • Understanding of RTT and patient pathways.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience working as an Assistant Medical Secretary.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Background in a hospital setting.
