We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) in a mainstream secondary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Support Teachers in Delivering Lessons: Assist teachers in delivering lessons and provide additional support to students who require extra assistance in understanding and completing tasks.
- Modify Instructional Materials: Adapt instructional materials to cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students, particularly focusing on EAL students to enhance their understanding of English language and academic content.
- One-on-One Support: Work with students on a one-on-one basis, tailoring instruction and activities to accommodate individual learning styles and address specific learning needs, especially those with SEN.
- Language Development: Facilitate language development for EAL students by implementing strategies to improve their English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
- Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management techniques and strategies to support students with behavioral challenges or emotional difficulties, ensuring a conducive and respectful classroom environment.
- Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to students, providing a safe space for them to express themselves and addressing any emotional concerns they may have.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Assist in conducting assessments and evaluations to measure student progress and identify areas for improvement, providing valuable input to teachers for educational planning.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and other support staff to share updates on student progress, concerns, and achievements.
- IEPs and Resources: Collaborate with teaching colleagues to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for SEN students, ensuring their unique needs are met, and prepare and organize teaching materials, resources, and equipment necessary for lessons.
- Inclusive Practices: Advocate for inclusive teaching practices and contribute to creating an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment that promotes equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their abilities or background.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay informed about best practices in supporting EAL and SEN students and enhancing your skills as a teaching assistant.
