Role Overview:
As a Lead Mass Properties Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing mass property data for advanced submarine projects. Your expertise will ensure effective weight and centroid management across multi-billion-pound programs.
Key Responsibilities: Gather and analyze mass property data for various systems and equipment to ensure optimal weight and centroid control. Collaborate with the Mass Properties Lead to compile comprehensive weight and centroid reports for presentation to senior management. Work closely with design engineers to accurately assess mass, centroid, and design readiness of both mechanical and electronic systems. Maintain an extensive database detailing the mass properties of components. Contribute to and spearhead weight reduction initiatives while tracking weight-related risks and opportunities across disciplines. Analyze CAD models to estimate mass properties, considering associated uncertainties. Employ statistical methods to provide a holistic view of weight risks and opportunities to senior stakeholders and clients. Required Qualifications:
Essential Degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or a clear pathway to achieve professional recognition. Proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Desirable Experience with large-scale, intricate electrical or mechanical systems. Background in data analysis, including interpretation, visualization, and presentation.
