Job Description Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to environmental, health, and safety impacts within the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure site operations meet regulatory requirements.
  2. Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and root cause analyses to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  3. Collaborate with the EHS council to develop and implement site-wide EHS initiatives.
  4. Lead injury and illness tracking, case management, and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  5. Review, approve, and conduct risk assessments, including assisting in the coordination of risk reduction projects.
  6. Execute site internal and external EHS requirements, including regulatory reporting and compliance.
  7. Communicate with vendors, contractors, EPA, OSHA, and other external sources to complete various tasks.
  8. Perform multimedia audits and revalidate Framework Scorecards to ensure site-wide EHS performance.
  9. Independently produce regulatory reports by collecting raw data, processing information, and completing the reports.
  10. Develop and maintain site EHS procedures, including documentation and change management.
  11. Lead site risk reduction initiatives, including driving operational Risk Identification and Strength of Defense ownership.

Qualifications/Requirements


• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety) + Minimum of 3 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment.

  2. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT systems.
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  4. Possesses the ability to represent the company in a professional manner to outside agencies, customers, and vendors.
  5. Demonstrated capability of understanding and operating chemical/mechanical processes.
  6. Prior experience with controlled documentation/documentation change management.
  7. Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting or implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  8. Prior demonstrated proficiency with a wide variety of chemical/mechanical processes, testing, and/or related six sigma initiatives.
  9. CSP or CIH certification.
  10. Ability to read, understand, interpret and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to the plant site.
