Job Title: GP Practice Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled GP Practice Nurse to join our team at Alrewas Surgery. As a key member of our primary care team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our practice.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and maintaining a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. You will work closely with senior nurses and GPs to support patients in achieving their health goals and promoting healthy living options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care, as directed by senior nurses and GPs.
  • Conduct general observations, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and BMI.
  • Perform venepuncture, wound care, and other basic nursing duties.
  • Collect and process specimens, including urine culture and swabs.
  • Record ECGs and peak flow readings.
  • Provide dietary advice and support patients with long-term conditions.
  • Administer vaccinations and immunisations, as required.
  • Assist GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings.
  • Participate in emergency situations and ensure that emergency equipment is well-stocked and maintained.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Competence in basic nursing duties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of health and safety and infection control requirements.
  • Competent IT skills.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Interest in or knowledge of diabetes management.
  • Experience of EMIS Web clinical system.
  • Trained in phlebotomy and wound care.
