Chief Scientific Adviser (National Security)

MI5 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientific Adviser to lead our National Security team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice to the Director GCHQ, DG MI5, and 'C' on science and technology matters.
  • Develop and implement the National Security Strategic Investment Fund (NSSIF) to drive innovation and growth.
  • Oversee the MI5, SIS, and GCHQ Scientific Advisory Council to ensure coherence and coordination of S&T research and development programmes.
  • Support the development of S&T professionals across the agencies and advocate for their professional development.
  • Represent MI5 in various HMG fora and engage with the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and the Chief Scientific Advisers network.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality S&T advice and guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
