Job Title: Chief Scientific Adviser

MI5 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientific Adviser to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing strategic advice on national security science and technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide expert advice on science and technology to the three intelligence agency heads and work closely with their leadership teams.
  2. Advise on the direction of the agencies' organizational strategies and collaboration initiatives, particularly in the areas of data, technology, and innovation.
  3. Develop a deep understanding of the international science and technology landscape to inform UK national security thinking and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  4. Support and coordinate S&T research and development programs across the community, ensuring coherence and alignment with national security goals.
  5. Sponsor innovation and engagement with the National Security Strategic Investment Fund.
  6. Oversee the MI5, SIS, and GCHQ Scientific Advisory Council.
  7. Support the professional development and careers of S&T professionals across the agencies.
  8. Represent the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and national security science in various HMG fora.
  9. Build an external network of scientific and research expertise, engaging with world-leading research groups, academia, and industry.
  10. Collaborate closely with the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and the Chief Scientific Advisers network.
