Safeguarding Children and Young People Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic practitioner to join our All Age Safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Children and Young People Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate team who provide support, advice, guidance, and training to all staff across the Trust.
Main Responsibilities:- Operational management of the child part of the team, ensuring effective delivery of safeguarding services.
- Undertake training and leadership and management training to enable you to fulfill the requirements of the Named Nurse role.
- Contribute to the leadership structure for the All Age service, supporting both new and existing staff to gain/develop safeguarding knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- Work as a Safeguarding Child practitioner, undertaking duty, training, supervision, report writing, and participating in Child Safeguarding Practice reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews.
- Collaborate with Multi-Agency partners for safeguarding and looked after children and adults, as well as Domestic Abuse.
- Support the safeguarding team to fulfill their multi-agency responsibilities as required by the Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-Agency Partnership and Kent and Medway Adult Safeguarding Board.
- Participate in the development of safeguarding and looked after children-related policies and guidelines.
- Promote the Think Family agenda across all safeguarding working with the Named professionals to embed the paramountcy of the child and make safeguarding personal.
- Provide advice and act as a resource to other departments within the Trust for safeguarding children and looked after children.
- Build strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve secure goals and objectives based on a foundation of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
- Work collaboratively with the senior nursing team and the Trust Safeguarding team to ensure there is effective education, supervision, oversight, completion of statutory safeguarding processes, and service development.
- Ensure compliance with the Trust's Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications and Training:
- Registered Nurse, Midwife, or RN Adult with Specialist Community Public Health with a child and family focus at degree level.
- Training qualification.
Clinical Skills and Experience:
- 5 years' experience with 2 years' experience working in safeguarding at Band 7 or above.
- Experience of designing and delivering safeguarding training.
- Expert knowledge of the Children Act (1989 and 2004), Working Together 2023, and NICE guidance for looked after children and young people 2021.
- Continuous quality improvement.
- Experience of safeguarding in the Acute setting.
- Previous experience of completion of child safeguarding practice reviews.
- Understanding of risk management.
- Experience of safeguarding investigations, RCAs, SIs.
- Flexible, highly motivated, self-directed practitioner with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to travel between sites.
