Job Summary

The Stephen James Partnership is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Legal to join our team. As a key member of our regulatory team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Head of Legal and Director on high-profile matters, while also having the opportunity to work autonomously.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented lawyer with a strong background in contentious regulatory, white-collar crime, investigations, financial regulation, or contentious competition experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supporting senior management on high-profile matters, including:

  • Assisting with the investigation of breaches and the process of determining and sanctioning those breaches
  • Assisting with the management of disputes, often by way of arbitration
  • Advising the wider business on all elements of financial rules
  • Ensuring compliance with any changes of control and new investment or the appointment of new directors
  • Domestic and international sports regulation

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Head of Legal and Director on high-profile matters
  • Working autonomously on projects and initiatives
  • Developing and implementing regulatory strategies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Providing advice on financial rules and regulations
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • E&W qualified (8+ years of experience)
  • Trained at a recognized City law firm
  • A self-starter attitude, excellent presentation, and communication techniques
  • Experience in one of the following: white-collar crime investigations, general litigation, or arbitration
  • Competition or banking experience is a bonus
