SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Morson Talent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to enhance the mechanical infrastructure and building services engineering for various projects related to infrastructure and accommodation/welfare across the site, acting as an informed client.
This position will be integrated within a multi-disciplinary infrastructure project team, responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of projects across Morson Talent's UK assets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Development of user requirements, scope of works documents, specifications, and tender packages
• Creation of design management plans and evaluation of existing procedures
• Classification and grading of projects/systems based on quality, hazard, environmental impact, and complexity
• Identification of constraints and compliance with statutory requirements
• Drafting RFQs and reviewing submissions
• Addressing RFIs/TQs
• Conducting feasibility studies and optioneering assessments
• Initiating scoping and preliminary design solutions
• Performing scoping and detailed design calculations
• Proposing solutions to meet green credentials and net-zero targets for systems and projects
• Adhering to and implementing safe systems of work
• Reviewing third-party design packages
• Accepting contractor design documentation
• Daily management of contractor technical delivery
• Leading and contributing to design reviews across disciplines
• Engaging with risk management procedures
• Collaborating within a close-knit project team and liaising with other disciplines
Required Experience:
• HND in a relevant engineering discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Building Services or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience as a design engineer within a consultancy or design and build contractor environment.
• A well-rounded professional with substantial practical knowledge of piped services, including domestic hot and cold water, foul water drainage, and various piped services such as LTHW, CHW, refrigerants, condensate, and natural gas, as well as ventilation and air conditioning systems.
• While a background in nuclear ventilation and services design engineering is not mandatory for this role, a solid understanding of design principles and project procedures from inception to handover is essential.
• Familiarity with standards and statutory requirements (e.g., Building Regulations, Water Regulations, Gas Regulations) is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt solutions as necessary.
• Proficiency or familiarity with AutoCAD is beneficial.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling tools such as Revit, Navisworks, or Inventor would be a plus.
