About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our Emergency Medicine department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical and nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Take an active role in the management and administrative workload of the department, contributing to the planning and development of our services.
  • Participate in the development of specialist interests within the Emergency Medicine field, staying up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Collaborate with medical colleagues in other specialties, participating in regular clinical meetings and postgraduate activities.
  • Contribute to the development of Emergency Medicine service treatment protocols and guidelines, ensuring that our services are aligned with national standards and best practices.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing 24/7 coverage and ensuring that our patients receive timely and effective care.
  • Take an active role in the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors, including appraisal and mentoring.

Person Specification
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Ability to teach clinical skills and lecture on specialty.
  • Broad clinical experience within Emergency Medicine.
  • Recognized ability to work within and provide leadership in the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
  • Commitment to clinical risk and understanding of Clinical Governance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses, and other agencies.
