About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional to work in a designated trauma unit and contribute to the design of a brand-new Emergency Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-class clinical care in Emergency Medicine, working with other members of the team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Take an active role in the management and administrative workload of the Department, contributing to planning and developing the service.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties, participating in regular clinical meetings and postgraduate activities.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to ensure that appropriate Emergency services are provided out of normal working hours.
  • Take an appropriate share of responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury, which are located 20 minutes' drive apart.

Person Specification
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
  • Ability to teach clinical skills, teach and lecture on specialty.
  • Broad clinical experience within Emergency Medicine.
  • Recognised ability to work within and provide leadership in the MDT.
  • Commitment to clinical risk and understanding of Clinical Governance.
