The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small team of Kitchen Porters in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and catering areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily cleaning schedule and tasks for the Kitchen Porters team.
- Operate the dishwasher and ensure the cleanliness of crockery and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure the kitchen and catering areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Implement and maintain Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, and College policies.
- Provide training and induction for new staff members.
- Motivate and assess team performance.
- Assist with the ordering and storage of PPE and COSHH products.
- Report any maintenance or pest issues to the Head Chef or Front of House Manager.
- Ensure waste and recyclable materials are handled correctly and stored properly.
- Ensure the bin area is kept tidy and bins are crushed when necessary.
- Coordinate the collection and delivery of laundry.
- Work in all areas of the kitchen as needed, including food preparation and plating.
- Aid with plated dishes during service time.
- Verify the completeness of suppliers' deliveries and invoices.
- Work in a clean and organized manner, ensuring the kitchen is left tidy and all tasks are completed.
Requirements:
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Good time management and organization skills.
- Experience in a similar position in a professional kitchen.
- Reasonable knowledge of supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and reliable approach to work, with the ability to work overtime when required.
- Ability to remain calm in pressurized situations.
- Positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff as a team player.
