We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Barnstaple. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for fault finding, repairing, and maintaining South West Water (SWW) assets across various company sites, primarily Water treatment works, pumping stations, and service reservoirs.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship.
- Provide recommended/detailed specifications of parts for ordering of stock replacements and parts needed to undertake repairs.
- Manufacture and fabricate parts and equipment.
- Undertake any training required to carry out work activities in a safe or legal manner.
- Carry out work activities as scheduled.
- Assist Operational staff with the resolution of complex problems.
- Keep our internal customers updated with activities that may impact on their processes.
- Use or, if necessary, request method statements and safe systems of work for the activities you carry out.
- Act as the duty Mechanical Craftperson on a standby/call-out rota basis.
- A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline.
- A full understanding of related RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime.
- Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes would be desirable.
- Ability to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment.
