About the Apprenticeship

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our team at The Ship Inn, Caerleon. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, including preparation, cooking, and storage areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Complete food safety management system documentation
  • Work with others to ensure dishes produced are of high quality, delivered on time, and to the standard required
  • Contribute to reviewing and refreshing menus and providing input on new menu suggestions and ideas

Requirements

  • No qualifications are required, but you must undertake your Level 2 Hygiene Certification if you do not currently possess one
  • Weekend and evening availability is a must for this position
  • You will have a "can do" attitude, a pride in your appearance, and good timekeeping
  • Willingness to learn and a basic knowledge of food hygiene
  • The ability to work well under pressure and as a team member

Training and Qualification

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery
  • Training provided by Cambrian Training Company Ltd
