Position Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineering Lead to spearhead a newly established development team focused on our Data Platform. This role is designed for a hybrid work environment.

The Data Platform Team transforms raw data into actionable insights that enhance our solutions and address critical challenges for our clients. This enables us to combat fraud, mitigate risks, and foster a more equitable and inclusive society.

Utilizing our advanced big data platform (HPCC), the team develops functionalities that are integrated into solutions through rapid data queries and a secure, high-performance API layer.

In this role, you will facilitate the team's delivery of changes while directly overseeing a group of approximately 3 to 6 skilled Engineers.

Team Dynamics

Our development teams operate in a cross-functional and agile manner, enjoying a significant degree of autonomy. They align their tasks (and backlog) with the Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) established for the entire group and set their own OKRs quarterly.

A typical team comprises Software Engineers, Quality Test Engineers, a Product Owner, and a Project Manager, along with a Software Engineering Lead. Each member brings a unique skill set and is at various stages in their career, ensuring ample opportunities for learning and growth.

All teams benefit from a supportive network of peers and other disciplines, including Systems Architects and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of changes, guiding team members in defining requirements and executing them.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner and Project Manager to align team efforts with customer needs and business priorities, refining them into actionable iterations.
  • Foster the professional growth of team members, empowering them to excel and achieve their career aspirations.
  • Continuously pursue engineering excellence, engaging with code as necessary and ensuring exceptional service for our clients.
  • Contribute to broader group initiatives, advocating for information security and promoting diversity and inclusion within our teams.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on technical experience in software development as part of a team (either as a Software Engineer or Quality Test Engineer). Familiarity with languages such as C++, Golang, and HPCC/ECL is advantageous, though not mandatory as training on HPCC is provided.
  • Ability to guide the refinement of technical tasks into deliverable components and validate the team's problem-solving approaches.

  • Mentorship capabilities to help others realize their full potential.
