Economic Analyst

Glasgow City Council is seeking a highly skilled Economic Analyst to join our team on a permanent full-time contract.
The RoleAs an Economic Analyst, you will be responsible for providing a range of economic development functions, including data analysis, impact modelling, and policy research. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting economic analysis and profiling activities to inform policy decisions
- Project and programme appraisal and evaluation activities to ensure effective use of resources
- Primary and secondary research activities to gather and analyze data
- Analysis and evaluation of information to provide reporting, evidence-based recommendations, and support for services to achieve organisational objectives and defined performance measures
You will be working closely with our team to develop and implement economic development strategies that drive growth and prosperity in Glasgow.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- High level presentation and communication skills in written and spoken English
- High level of data handling and analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel
- Experience in economic development data analysis and econometrics/quantitative analysis
- Ability to present complex analyses results, recommendations, and professional advice in clear and accessible formats
- Working knowledge of relevant computer software and IT packages, such as Microsoft Office
- Understanding of national, regional, and local economic policy/context
- Understanding of online sources of economic information
