The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Corrections Officer to join our team. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the public, staff, and supervisees within our correctional facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide security and custody of adult supervisees within our facilities and during transportation
- Supervise daily activities, observe and record behavior, and maintain a safe and secure environment
- Interact with visitors, staff, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations
- Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and principles to enhance effective communication strategies and role modeling
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures
- Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, background check, and drug testing
- Stable employment history
- Military or related criminal justice experience
- Coursework at a community college, college, or university
- Bi-lingual and Multi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply
