Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the role of Corrections Officer at the Dillwyn Correctional Center. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the public, staff, and supervisees within the institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide security and supervision to adult supervisees at the institution and during transport
  • Observe and record supervisee behavior and movement to ensure safe and secure confinement
  • Interact with visitors, staff, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations
  • Contribute to the public safety mission by providing effective and safe custody and control

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend workplace policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including medical screening, background check, and drug testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Stable employment history
  • Military or related criminal justice experience
  • Bi-lingual and multi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply
