Role Overview

  • Drive the achievement of company goals by ensuring that all facilities, machinery, and infrastructure meet the required standards for food production.
  • Actively engage as a key member of the Central Engineering Team to enhance internal customer satisfaction, uphold Health and Safety standards, ensure compliance, maintain technical excellence, manage capital budgets, and achieve performance metrics.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of capital projects in a food manufacturing context, from initial concept through to final handover, utilizing established project management methodologies.
  • Administer and monitor capital expenditure effectively.

  • Focus on construction and civil engineering projects, managing budgets ranging from £100k to £30 million across various UK locations.

  • Collaborate with the legal team to ensure all contracts and warranties are appropriate and effectively managed.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies regarding Health and Safety, Environment, Hygiene, and Communication among all engineering personnel, emphasizing safe work practices.
  • Guarantee compliance with statutory regulations for testing equipment and machinery related to capital projects.
  • Ensure that both contractors and internal teams follow established safety protocols, risk assessments, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain consistent application of company policies regarding grievances and disciplinary actions, coordinating with HR as necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting integration across functions with a unified approach.
  • Coordinate with factory management to ensure contractor activities are well-communicated and understood by project managers.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards and legal regulations within your area of responsibility.
  • Maintain high standards of Health, Safety, Environment, and Housekeeping, promptly addressing any hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Conduct essential safety management processes, including:
    • Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses

    • Establishing Safe Systems of Work and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to Manufacturing, Technical, and other departments.
