Unqualified Basic Salary: £27,084.52
Qualified Basic Salary: £28,067.52 (Salaries are based on a 42-hour contract, inclusive of sleep-in shifts. The Qualified Care Worker salary is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.)

North Lakes Children's Services is a reputable local organization dedicated to providing residential care and educational support for young males aged 6-18. Our mission is to enhance the resilience, self-worth, and capabilities of the youth we serve.
As a Childcare Support Specialist, you will be expected to embody a strong commitment and passion for your role. The well-being of the young individuals is at the forefront of our operations, and you will play a crucial role in their development.
Your responsibilities will include being a role model, a supportive presence, and an inspiring figure in the lives of the young people, helping them create joyful memories and engage in enjoyable activities.
We are currently looking for dedicated Support Workers to join our team, who possess a warm demeanor and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals recovering from challenging early life experiences.
Main Responsibilities: Each residential home has specific shift planners, diaries, and handover documents that outline daily tasks, which may vary between school terms and holiday periods. Below is a summary of your key duties during term-time:
- Assisting with daily routines, including wake-up calls, personal hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation to school or activities.
- Encouraging life skills development, social interaction, and supporting bedtime routines.
- Accompanying young individuals to medical and other appointments.
- Implementing activity plans and completing daily documentation.
- Managing household tasks, including budgeting, cleaning, and shopping for meals.
- Building relationships with families and coordinating special occasions.
In addition to daily tasks, you will also serve as a Keyworker, a role that should be viewed as a privilege. It is essential to think creatively and go the extra mile to create special moments and opportunities for the young people, fostering strong connections through warmth, empathy, and genuine care.
Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate flexibility in their availability, as the role involves sleep-in shifts and a rotating schedule of 14-hour workdays, typically consisting of two consecutive days on followed by two days off. Start times may vary between 08:00, 12:00, and 14:00.
Essential qualifications include:
- An understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals in care.
- Possession of a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or a willingness to pursue the necessary qualifications.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- A willingness to learn and collaborate effectively within a small team.
- Commitment to undergo an enhanced DBS check, which will be funded by the organization.
- Experience in Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is advantageous.
