About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Officer to join our team at The Progress Group. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in protecting sensitive information and shaping our data protection practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Data Protection Initiatives: Serve as the main point of contact for data protection issues within the organization, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.
  • Strategy and Compliance: Develop and implement our data protection strategy, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Training and Development: Create and deliver training programs to upskill colleagues on data protection requirements, ensuring a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
  • Policy Management: Draft and update data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, ensuring they are clear, concise, and effective.
  • Conduct Audits: Regularly audit data processing activities to ensure compliance and address any potential issues, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the primary contact for data protection authorities and regulators, ensuring timely and effective communication and resolution of any issues.
  • ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials: Assist with the implementation of ISO27001 standards and ensure compliance with annual Cyber Essentials activities, ensuring our organization's information security posture is robust and effective.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 3 years in data protection compliance or a related field, with a proven track record of success in implementing and maintaining effective data protection practices.
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of data protection laws, particularly GDPR, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
  • Skills: Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Qualifications: Preferably a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with proficiency in software for preparing reports and presentations.
