Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Cashier to join our team at Career Legal. As a Legal Cashier, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our client's financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Cash Handling: Process incoming electronic payments, send CHAPS/BACS payments, and log cheques received onto an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Disbursement Management: Post disbursements, deal with disbursement write-offs, and process client-to-client and office-to-office journals.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily bank statement reconciliation on client accounts and process banking transactions as required.
  • Counsel's Fee Management: Enter Counsel's fee notes onto the purchase ledger system and pay out Counsel's fees from the system.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise junior legal cashiers and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform other duties as required by the firm.
Requirements
  • High-Level Accuracy: Demonstrate high-level accuracy and attention to detail in all financial transactions.
  • Knowledge of Solicitor's Accounts Rules: Have in-depth knowledge of Solicitor's Accounts Rules and be able to apply them in a practical setting.
  • Experience in Legal Cashiering: Have solid experience in a legal cashiering role within a law firm.
  • Organizational Skills: Possess outstanding organizational skills and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Financial Systems Knowledge: Have excellent knowledge of legal-specific finance systems, preferably P4W (Partner for Windows).
  • Communication Skills: Be able to work with a wide range of individuals in a professional and friendly manner.
