Overview

NewMarket Corporation seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Chemist to lead process development and commercialization efforts for innovative new products. This role will play a crucial part in bridging the gap between research and production, ensuring seamless integration across various departments on a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development of novel products, encompassing the design and implementation of manufacturing processes from bench-scale studies to successful first-time production runs.
  • Conduct in-depth process conceptualization and techno-economic feasibility analyses to evaluate the viability and potential impact of new technologies.
  • Establish fundamental correlations between process parameters and chemical reactions, contributing to a deeper understanding of the manufacturing process.
  • Champion safe and efficient research practices within the laboratory environment, ensuring adherence to all relevant safety protocols.
  • Actively participate in stage-gate processes, identifying opportunities for product and process improvement throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Provide expert guidance to R&D teams during the early stages of product conceptualization, developing comprehensive testing plans aligned with the intended manufacturing process.
  • Maintain meticulous ISO documentation for all quality-related activities, actively participating in ISO initiatives and staying abreast of evolving ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or a related scientific field).
  • Comprehensive understanding of process chemistry and/or engineering principles, with practical experience applying these concepts in a research and development setting.
