Position Overview

Electromechanical Engineer

Location: Dorchester, Dorset

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation: Up to £17.25 per hour, based on experience

Working Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, with a 4pm finish on Friday

We are a prominent engineering firm specializing in the design and production of cutting-edge Industrial Automation Technology and robotics.

This organization is dedicated to developing specialized advanced robotic systems tailored for diverse applications.

In this role, you will engage in all electrical tasks related to the assembly of unique and prototype systems. Your responsibilities will include interpreting technical drawings and executing the assembly, installation, and wiring of components such as cables, looms, control panels, cabinets, and switches.

For certain prototypes, you will collaborate with designers and fellow engineers to identify challenges, propose solutions, and suggest improvements to enhance project execution.

The variety of equipment you may work on is extensive, and we are looking for Electromechanical Engineers with a comprehensive skill set to handle tasks including:

  • Construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical cabinets and switchgear
  • Electrical installation and commissioning of robotic components
  • Testing and troubleshooting of electronic systems, including firmware and software updates
  • Fabrication and testing of custom cable looms
  • Utilization of various crimping tools and terminals
  • Connection and testing of a wide range of connectors
  • PAT testing
  • Diagnosis and resolution of electrical issues

We seek candidates who possess the following qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • Strong electrical expertise
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and provide solutions for a variety of electrical challenges
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Formal electrical qualifications or apprenticeship training is preferred
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to assist other departments and teams as needed
