Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Loop Technology. As a key member of our cross-functional project team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electromechanical systems for use in factory and process automation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the creation and management of electro-mechanical system design, including control systems, from concept through to production, installation, and test.
  • Develop and manage system and subsystem product requirements while conceiving and developing multiple design approaches to a sufficient level of maturity to allow each to be assessed against those requirements and ranked to allow an optimal design approach to be selected for product development, build, and test.
  • Lead technical peer and cross-functional mechanical design reviews to ensure that all proposed designs are evaluated against and meet the product design requirements of the projects to which they are assigned.
  • Review mechanical design solutions developed by the Mechanical Engineering department to ensure that delivered systems meet customers' needs and expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to technical team members throughout all phases of the product development process to ensure that all functional and non-functional performance requirements are met and that design solutions are robust and cost-effective.
  • Provide general support, mentorship, and design input and advice to all members of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Mechanical Engineering Department and promote and advocate for the department professionally when carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the position.
  • Support the Mechanical Engineering Manager in carrying out their responsibilities and duties and, when requested, function as the manager of the department in their absence.
  • Comply with both the spirit and stated intent of all company and departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of creation and maintenance of technical and safety risk registers.
  • Qualification and acceptance testing.
  • Engineering Change Management.
  • Design and Analysis Tool & Methods:
    • Product and system performance analysis and prediction using computer visualization and mathematical/analytical methods.
    • Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (D/PFMEA).
    • Electro-mechanical power, torque, and efficiency calculations.
    • Statistical analysis of experimental, test, and quality data.
    • 2D and 3D optical and laser-based vision systems.
    • Packaging of electrical components and assemblies (including passive and active methods of component cooling, avoidance, and suppression of EMI and RFI).
    • Specification and selection of electrical connectors and cables.
    • Wiring harness and cable management in static and automated systems.
    • DfX (including Design for Manufacture, Design for Automated Assembly and Test).
