Join Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust as a Lead Mental Health Practitioner and play a vital role in providing high-quality, specialist mental health services to children and young people in the community.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work within our CAMHS Brief Intervention Home Treatment team, providing intensive support to young people with severe mental illness. As a Lead Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing care plans, as well as supervising and developing the skills of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-intensity, specialist mental health interventions to young people in the community, promoting a recovery-oriented approach.
- Assess and plan care for young people with complex mental health needs, including those with severe mental illness, psychosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Supervise and develop the skills of junior team members, including those with experience in positive risk-taking.
- Ensure the safe maintenance and sharing of accurate clinical records, including electronic records and communication with service users and their families.
- Work closely with colleagues within the CAMHS Crisis Pathway, including the CAMHS Liaison and Crisis Team (CLiC) and the CAMHS Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Team.
- Relevant professional qualification in Social Work (SW) or Occupational Therapy (OT).
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience working in an inpatient, liaison, or acute mental health environment.
- Experience of assessing, planning, and implementing care plans for young people with complex mental health needs.
- Ability to perform under pressure, making timely managerial decisions in conjunction with the Team Manager.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and legislative framework of the Children Act 1989.
