We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Barking and Dagenham. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct support to pupils with special educational needs, as well as assisting classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education. You will work closely with the school's special educational needs team to develop and implement individualized support plans for each pupil.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to pupils with special educational needs in the classroom and during activities
  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of pupils with special educational needs
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for each pupil in collaboration with the special educational needs team
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents to ensure seamless support and progress
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment that promotes the well-being and achievement of all pupils
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children with special needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of the national curriculum and special educational needs legislation
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and remain calm under pressure
  • Good understanding of IT systems and applications
  • Commitment to promoting the school's values and ethos
