Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Reception Class)

A highly regarded primary school in Dagenham is seeking a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to work with reception-aged children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a full-time, permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused one-on-one and group support to reception children with a range of SEND, including autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, and other developmental needs.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons and activities, adapting content to suit the individual learning requirements of pupils with SEND.
  • Follow and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support the class teacher in monitoring progress and development.
  • Assist with personal care and help children build independence and social skills.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers about the child's progress, working collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes for the children.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young children with SEND in a school or early years setting.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach when supporting young children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
