About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services to patients and clients across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement specialist programs of care for individuals and groups of patients/clients, and provide highly specialist advice to healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and evaluate patient progress, ensuring the highest standards of care and quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement policies, protocols, and audit processes that promote best practice and improve patient outcomes.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare professionals, patients, and carers, promoting evidence-based practice and enhancing patient understanding and engagement.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects and studies, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of speech and language therapy.
  • Act as a clinical supervisor and facilitate peer groups, providing guidance and support to colleagues to enhance their clinical skills and practice.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals, promoting open communication and collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) or equivalent professional body.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in specialist speech and language therapy, with a proven track record of clinical expertise and leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and produce high-quality reports using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience of using electronic patient record systems and other healthcare technologies.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence in patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the changing needs of patients and services.
