Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Senior Design Manager to join our team at Ador Talent. As a Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the overall design process from tender stage through to completion of design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the design team, including project design management plans, procurement of design services, risk management, and value engineering.
  • Develop and implement project-specific design management processes and protocols.
  • Ensure that the scope of services for incorporation into each consultant appointment meets the project requirements.
  • Arrange and chair design team meetings and workshops, ensuring minutes are produced and distributed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage design co-ordination processes through design workshops and collaborative working with designers.
  • Implement risk management reviews and workshops relating to the design and input to the project risk register.
  • Establish and monitor request for information processes for the project.
  • Establish and monitor project-specific technical document control processes and protocols.
  • Value engineering and maintain awareness of and meeting the cost plan.
  • Manage design verification processes.
  • Develop and monitor a detailed design programme.
  • Work closely with the project team in identifying and managing change.
  • Liaise with clients and other project stakeholders on design issues.
  • Lead and motivate design managers, design co-ordinators, and/or document controllers working on the project.
  • Establish detailed requirements and responsibilities for technical handover documentation, including Health and Safety Files, building manuals, and Building User Guides.
  • Maintain daily records.

Requirements

  • Essential:
    • Qualifications: HNC/HND
    • Certs: CSCS Card
    • Experience/Knowledge: Minimum of ten years' experience in the design management role appropriate to the market sector and current company requirements.
    • Skills: Communication (written/verbal), Leadership and direction of team, Presentation skills, Organisational skills, Lateral and forward thinking, Working under pressure and self-motivated, Dynamic and proactive, Customer-facing, Negotiating skills.
    • Competencies: Design Management, Commercial awareness, Decision making, Technical awareness – building technology and regulations, Awareness of innovation within the industry.
    • Computer: Outlook, Word, Excel, CAD viewer.
  • Desirable:
    • Qualifications: Degree and/or membership of professional institution (e.g. MCIOB) or recognised career path.
    • Skills: Technical authoring for production of contractor's proposals.
    • Computer: PCAD packages; Powerproject.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8am to 5:30pm, Friday: 8am to 5pm, and to suit site requirements.
