Position Overview

As a Senior Pediatric Physiotherapy Specialist, you will embrace the opportunity to apply your advanced skills in pediatric physiotherapy within an outpatient environment. Your role will involve precise assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a diverse range of conditions affecting infants and children, including:

  • Developmental evaluations for children under five
  • Follow-up assessments for premature infants
  • Management of common musculoskeletal issues in young patients, such as torticollis, developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), toe-walking, and post-operative care following orthopedic or neuro-orthopedic surgeries.

Key Responsibilities

You will demonstrate confidence in working autonomously as well as collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members, ensuring a child-centered approach and actively involving families and caregivers in the rehabilitation journey. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will regularly liaise with referrers, medical professionals, and external organizations.

In addition to managing a varied outpatient caseload, you will be an integral part of the broader physiotherapy team, with potential responsibilities including support for specialized services such as Ponseti/serial casting, selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR), or acute developmental services based on operational needs.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Extensive experience in neurodevelopmental assessments and musculoskeletal outpatient care for children aged 0-5
  • Experience in neonatal intensive care and follow-up for premature infants is advantageous
  • Background in both inpatient and outpatient settings within an acute healthcare environment
  • Experience collaborating across various physiotherapy disciplines

  • Provision of physiotherapy interventions for patients facing communication barriers
  • Support and mentorship for junior staff and collaboration across various hospital departments
  • Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date treatment records
  • Preparation of detailed discharge reports in conjunction with multidisciplinary team members
  • Ensuring timely commencement of physiotherapy sessions and appropriate patient billing
  • Flexibility to meet service demands, including participation in out-of-hours and weekend services as required.
