Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Colorectal Surgeon to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care to patients with colorectal conditions.

Main Duties

The post-holder will work in the field of Colorectal Surgery, providing elective Theatre, Clinic and Lower GI Endoscopy services. They will also contribute to the reduction of the colorectal waiting list in proctology. The post holder will participate in the on-call rota for Emergency General Surgery services based at the John Radcliffe Hospital site, working alongside a team of dedicated Emergency Surgeons.

About the Department

The Colorectal Service is a department of 10 colorectal surgeons within the Surgical Directorate based at the Churchill Hospital. The department's expertise covers the full range of colorectal surgery, with high volumes of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, and proctology. The new consultant will have a broad training in colorectal surgery and be able to integrate and help develop the above services.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have experience in a specialist colorectal unit and evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level and to manage complex clinical problems. They will also have open and laparoscopic colorectal surgery skills, colonoscopy experience, and effective administrative and time management skills.
