About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Operations Manager to join our team at Luton Town Football Club. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our catering services, providing exceptional customer experiences, and contributing to the overall success of the club.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and Manage Match Day Operations
    • Oversee the delivery of catering services on match days, ensuring high-quality food and drink are provided to our customers.
    • Manage a team of catering staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Implement Operational Plans
    • Develop and implement operational plans for all catering services across the club, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
    • Work closely with the General Catering Manager to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance the customer experience.
  • Customer Experience
    • Provision of an excellent customer experience at all matches and events, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with the commercial team to develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and improve customer engagement.
  • Health and Safety
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation and ensure compliance with the club's health and safety policy and all relevant regulations.
    • Lead the collation of all necessary due diligence legislation and ensure that all catering staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to health and safety.
  • Financial Management
    • Ensure that financial targets are met, and costs are controlled in line with budgets.
    • Monitor and manage catering budgets, identifying areas for cost savings and implementing changes to improve efficiency.
  • Team Management
    • Manage and motivate a team of catering staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of catering staff.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with the commercial team, other departments, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of catering services.
    • Collaborate with the events team to ensure that catering services are aligned with event requirements.

Requirements

  • Education and Qualifications
    • Qualifications to GCSE or A-level standard that include mathematics.
    • Microsoft Office skills, including extensive knowledge of Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • H&S training to a level commensurate with work activity.
    • Food safety training to a level commensurate with work activity.
    • NCPLH Qualification.
    • FSA Allergen Management Training.
  • Experience
    • Background in stadium hospitality or conference centre catering activity.
    • At least 3 years in a management role in an organisation where catering hospitality is a core function.
    • Experience managing a team of at least 15 staff.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Specific track record for the successful development of staff and teams.
    • Able to demonstrate the ability to build turnover and meet targets.
    • Can demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service and methods of achieving it.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritise tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
  • Abilities and Skills
    • High standard of personal presentation.
    • Understanding the importance of health and hygiene.
    • Passionate about food, drink, service, and hospitality industry.
    • Highly developed problem-solving skills, resilience, and the ability to perform well under pressure.
    • Flexibility in working hours.
    • Must be pro-active, motivated, organised, responsible and able to work independently as well as in a team.
    • Demonstrate good motivational and team building skills and can resolve issues where appropriate.
    • Focused on achieving success and solutions orientated.
    • Able to work collaboratively and cross functionally.
    • Be an ambassador for the Club always presenting the Club in a positive image.
